The Caro Garden Club hosted their Fifth Annual Youth Sculpture Contest Workshop. This year's workshop was held at The Tuscola County Extension Office and was open to the public for kids in grades 4-8 on Thursday January 11th from 6:30-8:00 PM.
Beth Hoppe, the Recycling Educator from the Tuscola County Recycling Facility gave a presentation to the kids first on the importance of recycling and all the amazing products that come from companies focused on recycling. Caro Garden Club members provided all the recycling materials for the kids to create their sculptures. They also talked to the kids about the importance of recycling and keeping our planet green.
Entries from grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 have been sent to local judges. Caro Garden Club will award $25 to each first place winner in those grades. Those winners will move on to the Michigan State Garden Clubs, Inc for Statewide judging for those grade levels. First place in the state receives a $50 gift certificate to Walmart. State winners will move on to Central Region and National competitions.
