The Caro Garden Club sponsored a Youth Sculpture Contest Workshop on November 6th at St. Christopher’s Parish Center. Beth Hoppe, the Recycling Educator from Tuscola County Recycling Center talked to the kids first about the importance of recycling and brought recycled materials to show them what can be made from recycling.
Caro Garden Club sponsors the Youth Sculpture Contest with financial rewards, District 6 and Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc. also sponsor the contest with financial awards. If your child is in grades 4-8, they are eligible to enter. They can still enter the contest until the deadline which is: January 15th. They simply need to make a sculpture from recycled or repurposed materials that fits on a computer size piece of paper, take 3-4 pictures of it, and fill out the necessary forms. Please call or email: Kathy Sauber: @989-673-7691/ kathleenbhs7@gmail.com and you will be sent the forms and information electronically.
Caro had an entry last year that made it all the way to National and took a first for 8th Grade entries! A big deal because it’s a big country with thousands of Garden Clubs! It’s a fun contest that teaches kids about the importance of recycling and keeping our planet green! Here are some of the pics from the November 6th workshop.
