Recently the Caro Garden Club hosted the Michigan Garden Club’s District 6 Fall Meeting, Seeing Trees”. The day-long meeting attended by Garden Club members from across eastern mid-Michigan was held at Midway Hall and included two fabulous speakers, Dr. Greg Bonito, MSU, who spoke about Mycorrhizal Fungal Diversity and the Web of Life, and Chuck Martin, Whiting Forest Grounds Manager about Tree Therapy, the Benefit of Trees. It also gave us a chance to connect with some of our state leadership to discover the important contributions they are making to our organization. Attending was Monica Taylor, MGC President, words from Nancy Ryan, 1st Vice President, and Nancy Stark, MCC Chair.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to what we considered a very successful, educational, friendly, fun, yummy day. Many thanks to other District 6 clubs who helped us put this on - Evergreen Garden Club, Great Lakes Gardeners, Little Garden Club of Midland, Port Sanilac Garden Club and Touch the Earth Garden Club. We would also like to thank all of our vendors, the Tuscola County Fair Board for the use of the building, Szcygiels Plant Farm for the outdoor seasonal decor, Caro High School for the use of the PA equipment and the students who helped us with setup and cleanup, Amy Sue Photography for the use of the backdrop equipment, Petit 4 Bakery for the outstanding food all day and to all the attendees who drive from all over our twelve county district to spend the day with us!
A special thanks to our committee members who worked so hard for so long to make the day come together and the contributions of our own Caro Garden Club members. And a very special thank you to Kathy Sauber, our District 6 president (and former club president), who inspires us and demonstrates to us every day what true leadership is!
