GARDEN CLUB MEMBER PROFILE - PETER DILLER

Caro Garden Club member Peter Diller was mentioned in The Advertiser for his help in landscaping a new memorial at the entrance of the Tuscola County Veterans’ Affairs Office. The memorial honors 305 Americans who were killed in Vietnam during the November 14-18, 1965 Battle of the Ia Drang Valley.

The Advertiser ran the story on page A3 of its January 5 edition under the headline “Etched in stone: Memorial honors iconic battle.”

Excerpt: “Peter Diller, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of the Caro Garden Club, was instrumental in choosing the right plants to complement the memorial, according to [Tuscola County Veterans’ Affairs Director Mark] Zmierski. “English lavender plants, combined with butterfly bushes, adorn the memorial, where workers have laid mulch around the monuments.”

Peter is also involved in several garden club projects including tending a portion of the Botanical Garden, chair of the Noble Boulder Garden, instrumental in the creation of the Blue Star and Viet Nam Memorial gardens as part of the Botanical Garden, and holding a position on the club board.

Thank you, Peter, for doing the Caro Garden Club and Veterans’ Memorial proud!
